(More customer reviews)This review is for the full, over-the-head deluxe Leatherface mask from the 2003 remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. This mask is very similar to the 3/4 mask that is also listed here on Amazon and other vendors. The full, over-the-head mask contains a neck piece as shown in the stock photo as well as a back neck piece. The 3/4 mask lacks these neck portions, and thus, is priced lower than this mask.
I have been searching for a Leatherface mask for a while now, and decided to settle on this one. I figure this is the next best thing to a custom-made mask. Overall the quality of this mask reflects the price. The paint job on the mask is great. However, you should expect small differences than the one in the stock photo as these are hand painted. The latex seems to be of high quality and with proper care, it should last for years. The biggest problem with the mask's composition seems to be the hair's attachment to the mask. I had bits of hair fall out at times. However, the problem is very minimal.
Like with most masks, visibility is reduced slightly when the mask is worn. Breathing while wearing the mask is okay, but not great. The mask has holes in the eyes (obviously), in the nose, in the mouth, and in the ears. I believe children and young teens will have problems wearing this mask as is as it is very large. This can be solved by placing some kind of stuffing material (towels, sponges, etc.) to give a tighter fit.
Overall, this mask is really nice and scary. If you want a high quality Leatherface mask, but don't want to spend a fortune on a custom-made one, I highly suggest this mask. Throw in a chainsaw and a bloody apron and you're good to go! Scared trick-or-treaters galore!
Happy Halloween!
