(More customer reviews)I just got this on DVD today in the mail and I had to vent something somewhere.
Let me start by saying that I purchased my copy directly from [...], the people who made this video. I haven't finished watching it yet but I have to warn people about it. The content of the DVD I have is fine, the videos I have watched so far are informative and worth the money (I paid $15), it has hung up on me a couple of times and not played smoothly but ultimately is okay... but physically the DVD is shockingly cheap. The box is converted from an old VHS copy with the top and bottom cut off and the disc itself was a regular store bought DVD-R with a little white sticker on it with the DVD name printed on it. Like the kind of thing you would expect to buy from some shady guy in an alleyway somewhere.
Now if you are buying a VHS copy I am sure that it was more professionally produced and that is I think the problem... these guys spent a bunch of money getting a bunch of VHS made up and then couldn't sell them so they are cutting corners and saving money by recycling the VHS covers and burning the DVD's on demand on whatever cheap discs they got from Walmart.
I was hoping to have a nice looking DVD to add to my collection but I was really disappointed, I am now going to make one up myself, I'll go to Staples and print a cover out and rip the DVD to a Lightscribe disc so I feel less embarrassed by it.
UPDATE: I contacted the manufacturer politely explaining how unprofessional I thought the product they sent me was and they agreed, apologized and assured me that they are having professional DVD's produced and promised to send me one when they become available. If they do it will go a long way to restoring their reputation in my eyes and I will update the review again in kind.
