I dressed him in his pajamas before putting him in the costume. My daughter's first Halloween outfit was also from Carter's. I highly recommend Carter's clothes and costumes. **My son was 2 1/2 months when he wore this and we purchased the 3-6 month size. If you are not sure what size to get, go up one size. Better to be a little big than too small.
