When ordering the spats, I didn't see it listed anywhere that these were for men so I assumed gender neutral. However, the spats come with an elastic band that hooks under your shoes to keep it pulled down and in place. This works great with a man's wider shoe sole. However, for a female's narrower shoe heel or sole the elastic band is way too long. So after putting a few stiches in the elastic band to make it shorter(or it could have been pinned)it worked great and stayed in place all night!
