(More customer reviews)Here is my first impressions review after one evening with my new fangs...
I was in our local Halloween store this afternoon and saw these fangs. The clerk said they were the real deal, and that I wouldn't be disappointed. So, I pulled out my phone, and researched them online to find that everybody really seems to love them, and they work really well. So, after watching a dozen or so review videos on YouTube, I finally decided to go for it.
My only decision was whether to get the standard size or the subtle size. I had seen in videos that the standard size ones are pretty large, and although you can talk, they don't look totally comfortable, and they produce a lisp. They are just too big in my opinion. The subtle sized ones on the other hand looked very comfortable, and didn't affect speech at all. They simply look more natural, and therefore more realistic. But, I wasn't sure if they would fit my canine teeth since they are marketed toward those with smaller teeth. But, my girlfriend said she would buy them if they didn't work for me. So, I grabbed a pair. Here's what I found, and some instructions to pay attention to.
In the package (A cool little plastic box shaped like a coffin) you get the pair of fangs, 6 capsules of bonding powder, 1 vile of bonding liquid that mixes with the powder to create a paste, a small plastic container to mix the bonding agent in, and a small stir stick.
First, before you start the molding process, make sure you practice fitting the fangs to your teeth. Make sure they will fit on the teeth you want to use, and then make sure you practice putting them in place in one smooth movement. Because once you put the bonding agent in, you want to put them on quickly and accurately the first time, without moving them at all while they solidify. In my case, I found that they were a little too small for my canine teeth. (I'm an averaged size adult male) Since they wouldn't go on my canines, I decided to try them on my lateral incisors (The smaller teeth between your front teeth and your canine teeth, like in the series True Blood) They looked great there, and seemed to fit perfectly.
Next you empty one capsule of bonding powder into the container, and add 5 drops of the bonding liquid. Use the stir stick to mix it around for about 20 seconds until it becomes a thick paste about the same consistency as tooth paste. Once it's a paste, you use the stir stick to smear the paste on the inside of the first fang. Once it's all in, you quickly and accurately push the fang in place on your tooth, making sure it settles where you want it the first time. Then, hold it there for about 5 minutes. I recommend laying down or tilting your head back so you don't drool. The paste needs about 5 minutes to set. Then, you can let go and prepare the second fang. Follow the same process, and hold it in place for 5 minutes. Once they are both in place and set, lay down and relax for another 15 minutes, for them to solidify all the way. (The smell when you mix the paste isn't great, but it's fine once it's mixed and doesn't taste too bad)
After 15 minutes or so, use your bottom teeth to push the fangs forward to break the seal and loosen them. Then slowly pry them down by applying a little force and wiggling them. Once you get them off, the paste will have formed a perfect impression of your teeth. And the paste that oozes out when you push them on will mold into the space between your teeth in the back and help provide a strong support when you have them in.
Once you've got them off, you can then practice putting them in and taking them off. If you mess it up, you will have another 4 capsules of paste you can use to redo it. Then, if there is paste that oozed out on the front of the tooth where it can be seen, you can clip it off with fingernail clippers, and or buff it off with an emery board or file. But, leave any hardened ooze on the back of the fang, as that will help hold it in place, and you can't see it in the back anyway.
Now, what do I think of them?
Awesome. I was really impressed with how totally lifelike they look. The color is perfect for my teeth, which I would say is pretty normal. Not bright whitened, but not yellow either. They should match just right for most people. The size is perfect. Unmistakable, but yet totally natural looking and comfortable. I can talk normally with no lisp, and I can keep them in for as long as I want. They feel great. They feel like real teeth. They are strong, and feel like you could eat with them, but I do not condone that at all. You can drink with them, but don't drink anything red, as that will stain them. And please don't sleep with them in.
I promise you that if you're unsure about these, but you'd like to try them, you won't be disappointed. They are so realistic, lifelike, strong, comfortable, and simply feel good in, that you don't even realize they are there once you're used to them. I would definitely recommend them, and would definitely buy them again. (FYI, I paid 19.99 for mine at our local Sprit of Halloween store) So, follow the directions exactly, watch some reviews on YouTube to see how it's done and how they look, and enjoy your new look!
Hope that helps you...
