(More customer reviews)Mmm. Here's the deal: the wig isn't the best, on account that several things are wrong. At the same time, it's kind of the best one out there for a reasonable price. And so what you get is this: a BeetleJuice wig that needs LOTS of modification.
For starters, the wig is grey. Beej has dirty blonde hair that is very very light, in a muted yellow kind of way. And then it's tainted with mossy green going throughout. And so I'm not quite sure where the grey comes from. At any rate, it ends up making a nice base color, if you work with it to get things right. (I dyed mine green, using several Kool-Aid packets of lemonade, and a couple of lime mixed together with some conditioner. And then I rinsed most of it out. I haven't finished it yet, but I plan on going in with a yellow marker to see how I can further manipulate it.)
Then, the hairline isn't receeding enough. If I left the hairline alone, it'd reach in on my face, about an inch further in on each side, than it should. And so I removed three layers of hair, and then re-sewed the front layer back in a more natural position. In addition to that, there's just too much hair to start with. BeetleJuice doesn't have tons of hair--it's just what he does have is in a crazy madcap kind of way. And so if you randomly hack at it with scissors, and periodically keep track of what you're doing in a mirror, you'll be able to get things looking closer to how they should. Also I found that combing it with a toothbrush helps a lot--is an easy and effective way to get it pwoofy and such.
Also, it looks as though the cap part is a bit too big--but that really can't be helped. People just come in different sizes, I mean. And so I plan on cutting along the side, and pulling it tighter, and then sewing in back, in the hopes of making it fit more properly.
That said, it is quite durable. I mean I've been giving it whatfor getting it to look just right, and it's held up perfectly fine. And so it is high quality in the sense that it isn't going to fall to pieces at the drop of a hat.
And so I suppose what I mean is, if you don't want to spend a ton of money, this is basically your only choice if you want to dress up as BeetleJuice. And, if you're willing to put a bit of time and effort into it, it'll most definately work. And so I'd recommend it--just be aware that you're going to have to manipulate it, if you want something closer to the movie.
